Hmmm.. might they be related? Did you install the USB drivers from your hardware vendor? Or are you using the ones that came with Windows? Did you maybe install an XP driver?

Got news for you, neither the typewriter nor the vacuum tube are extinct. Both are still around. There are applications for both and it doesn't seem likely that either will vanish entirely in our lifetimes.

People said that mainframes would disappear too with the advent of the PC but, guess what, they are still out there.

As a professional writer, I would rather go back to pen and paper than try to write an article on an iPad, even with one of those crappy half sized keyboards.

Your entire thesis is bogus. It's whining.
Well, it seems you are a believer. I don't think that learning will be the big problem with Win8, but if it is for dupes it is exactly because dupes do not need to learn, because they do not wish to use advanced settings, controls or configurations for personalization and convenience that have been cut off, and also don't mind if the graphics look very much like an updated Windows 95, maybe wore for the full screens we get on large monitors as if it were a small phone. They use a PC as a typewriter replacement or a game machine. And yes, there is something good for Win8 over Win7 aside the better kernel: the explorer no longer expands from the bottom up, not from the top down as it used to be, and that introduced issue was extremely annoying. Yes, it is better, and it is also better to be controlled by MS in their scheme to get richer .

That's an easy one. There IS no "new" driver for windows 8 for my Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller. The driver it uses is the one that came with Windows 8. I have tried to install the newest driver for Windows 7 from MSI (my mobo is a MSI), but that can not be done, as it says it has a "compatible problem", and refuse to install. I have looked at Intel for a newer driver but without succes.

If I deactivate the USB3 controller, the CPU is still not clocking down, so it is not connected, I think.

Poll: Scant demand for Microsoftís Windows 8

The phone survey of nearly 1,200 adults in the U.S. found 52 percent hadnít even heard of Windows 8 leading up to Fridayís release of the redesigned software.

Among the people who knew something about the new operating system, 61 percent had little or no interest in buying a new laptop or desktop computer running on Windows 8, according to the poll. And only about a third of people whoíve heard about the new system believe it will be an improvement (35 percent).
Chris Dionne of Waterbury, Conn., falls into that camp. The 43-year-old engineer had already seen Windows 8 and it didnít persuade him to abandon or upgrade his Hewlett-Packard laptop running on Windows 7, the previous version of the operating system released in 2009.
"I am not real thrilled they are changing things around," Dionne said. "Windows 7 does everything I want it to. Where is the return on my investment to learn a new OS?"

This is the worst version of Windows ever!
I won't spend much time on all of it but it IS chiseled in stone! The recovery program built into my 2 month old laptop can't run due to something in windows 8.

IE, it won't run, but leaves a window that you can't get rid of without stopping it through task manager.

My biggest complain is you call Microsoft and you get nowhere... call manufacturer and you have to pay to order the actual Recovery disk.

    I want my money back!

Says who, mdmd? Not me. I'm serious. Name a better OS right now than 8.
