This will be Microsofts biggest ever flop, far bigger than Vista.

Are you suggesting 8F is undergoing some type of perpetual loop due to this thread in particular?

It just goes to show what I had stated months back that 8 is bound to see all types on opinions on it. Some will love it while the rest of us are too likely going to have some very negative things to utter at times.

The one thing that has held true so far is that everyone has an opinion!

I guess you could ask how many different ways can the same thing be said? And the answer of course would be 10 to the power of x, where x = infinity?

I just got an email from Microcenter Windows 8 pro (upgrade) is on sale for $38.88. Regular price is $199.99 (boxed version). This leads me to believe Microsoft is really worried about Windows 8.

It doesn't take much to figure out why. Following 7 a working version namely with a major gui change that looks much more like a Tablet screen that any desktop OS will have its drawbacks.

The prices I found however see the upgrade priced at $70 and the full install OEM at $140- for the 8 Pro. The regular Home verison OEM is $99.99.

One other offer which is new however is being able to turn the Home into the Pro edition with Pro Pack without any media. That's the retail upgrade from Windows 8 seen at Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows 8 Pro Pack - Product Key Card (no media)

Took me quite a long time to figure out how to remove that Facebook account. I didn't want to remove my Facebok integration with my @Live account, but that's what Windows 8 wanted to do by removing the Facebook account. What I had to do, was remove the Microsoft account instead, which took the Facebook account with it. But for a computer savvy person like myself, who uses Windows and Linux every single day...it wasn't clear or obvious.
Why didn't you just create a new local account for them to use?

It's always a chance hearing that some people love the latest while I think this one will end up seeing mostly critism due to how MS stripped away the traditional form of desktop. A lot of it however will mainly depend on what you use your pc for however.

Most will go for the version that suits their individual needs the best over simply grabbing at Bells and Whistles just because it is the latest. The advanced on the other hand will look everything over while still retaining a favored OS.

So we agree, Windows 8 is the best choice.

XP may have been a cartoon OS, but at least it wasn't in black and white, or blue and white, or green and white (what do you get, a choice of 7 colors?). My complaints aren't about a learning curve either, I am well aware of all the keyboard shortcuts I could use -- I DON'T WANT TO! Yes, this will be Microsoft's biggest failure *ever*. I wasn't a fan of Vista, but I didn't request a "downgrade". I will be requesting a "downgrade" for any box I get that his this nasty OS on it.

PS - Off topic, but MS Phone -- HIDEOUS! They need to fire the color blind design artists they have working for them...
Excuse me Brian, but may we be a little more polite on EightForums?

Yes, 2bit color looks quite drab to many, but the way 8 runs is the real deal. Windows 7 was amazing, and 8 is just a few improvements, really. With a bolted-on Metro UI doesn't bother me. I'd rather view my mail in metro (yes, even on a 23 inch screen) than on my phone. I plan on purchasing many copies of this wonderful OS.
