    Typing TRE beeps.

If I type letters T,R,E quickly in any application (or even if the focus is on desktop - not any particular application) then by system beeps. Nothing else seems to be affected and the letters are registered correctly.

What is this beep for? How do I turn it off?

    This may help:

Your computer may beep as an error alert if you are attempting to type in a location where text is not accepted. For example, you may click incorrectly and not select a text box or field in a form and begin typing. Beeping will indicate that your cursor is in the wrong location for typing so that you can correct this.

    See pictures:

In Sounds select the Default beep:

Then select None, as its' sound.

Thanks. I tried these but it didn't make a difference. I've tested in word, excel and IE11 on this forum (and with no focus). I tested all of the sounds in the post above and it sounds most like "Windows Information Bar.wav" although the pitch is slightly higher so it is not the "Default beep" sound it is something else.

In fact if I change the sound scheme to "None" I still get this beep. Further testing shows I get the beep for most 3 key combinations that are close together on the keyboard and it happens if I press the three keys at the same time not just very quickly.

Does this sound like a broken keyboard? I don't have a spare one to test with.

It kills the beep on my computer.

It could be your keyboard at fault.

While Googling, I read that stuck or damaged keys would cause a sound event.

I'll see if I can borrow one from somewhere and test it. I think you are right alas.

I don't know how much one costs but it shouldn't be too costly.

Not expensive no - about $25 on ebay for my laptop model. I'll test with an external one first though just to make sure I'm not wasting my money. I rarely type fast enough for it to matter anyway

I played with the sound event on my desktop.

    I have shortcuts on it.

If I press a key that a shortcut starts with, it highlights the shortcut.

If I press a key that no shortcut starts with I get a sound event.
