"Waking" from Sleep Reboots System

  1. #11

UPDATE: I also read around that older versions of Catalyst could be the solution, I uninstalled my display drivers, tested it - installed older version of drivers - tested it, installed different combinations of drivers - tested them, reinstalled all my previous (newest) drivers - tested it again for good luck

    none of them worked

I also did the Windows troubleshooter thing with Power, nothing solved there.

How do you have a newer BIOS than what is on the official Dell site? And the other newer drivers may not work right on your system. Simply saying I would start with the latest BIOS and drivers posted on the official site. Only input I have for your problem. I may be way off base.

Dell is not known to have the ability to be up to date with the latest drivers, I THINK i updated it via device manager early on, I may just flash it back to Dell's version?

Just a quick question, in the name of repairing the machine: Is there any particular reason you're avoiding all I'm saying?

not exactly, I've either already done them, or to be honest what you've said doesn't really help me - its too vague (such as when you told me to fix my drivers - the "ones on [my] system"), no offense

once again, I've already checked that my drivers (at least the most of them that seem relevant, ie not things like card reader and stuff) are up to date either by Device Manager, or by Dell's Website

ok I seem to have solved it, I'll Mark this as Solved soon once I am certain that the issue is gone

basically what happened was my computer got the 'refresh windows' treatment (don't ask why, please, its a long story)
but what this did was basically returned everything to 'stock' drivers and tada - the problem seems to have disappeared.

In otherwords, absolutely NO UPDATES are needed to fix it, in fact, the more updates I did, including the Dell drivers offered by their site, the more complicated the problem became, eventually giving me black screens of doom. Just have to roll with what comes with the 'stock' system.

However this does decrease gaming performance noticeably, which is very unfortunate. Although not as much as say, playing on the Intel GPU does, its still quite the hit... farrrrr from ideal, I'm not sure if this then is considered "solved"?
