    Window 8 Attachments folder purpose

I haven't had the occasion to test this, but do email attachments received in any local email client or in webmail, which a user chooses to save, default to the \Users<user>\Documents\Attachments folder? I take it that the Attachments folder is not like the Temp folder in which files viewed from messages may be cached. Thanks.

No. For example I use Windows Live Mail. They are saved in %APPDTA%. If I decide to explicitly download them they are copied (from there) to wherever I chose last time - usually the desktop in my case.

    Other clients may be different.

    I don't have a \Users<user>\Documents\Attachments folder at all.

What attachment folder. Must be for some program you have installed. I do not have a folder with that name on my Windows 8.1 install, nor have ever had it before when I was using Outlook 2013.

Thanks, everyone. The Win 8 system that I'm looking at contains the path C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Attachments. I looked at another Win 8 system, and there was no Attachments folder in the above path. Perhaps it was created by an app that I haven't found yet. While a webmail email is stored on the host's servers, an attachment that's viewed, e.g., a video, could end up in a Temp folder.
