    Snipping Tool Pics - where did they go?

    I have this problem sometimes but not all the time. It did it to me again just now.

    I use the snipping tool to get a screenshot and save it to my desktop but it never appears on my desktop? I do another snip and save it to my desktop and it says "capture already exists" - but its not on my desktop?

    I can view it in my menu under "recent items" but the home of the file is shown in the photo. Why is it not on my desktop as the file sting says it is?

    First suspicion is that you are saving it to another desktop?

    Click the "Open File Location" and see where it is located.

    I just tested it and it works fine when saved to my desktop. Our pathnames are the same and mine shows up as a thumbnail image on my desktop . Why are you looking at a shortcut? See my followup post.

    Here is my shortcut view (from recent items) and it is going to my users desktop;

    So, did you send it to your users desktop?

    This is just a pictorial expansion of davehc's original theory so kudos to davehc for that suggestion.

    I opened file location as you said and it just says "desktop"?

    I am currently looking into another problem I am having here: Why so many Users - Cyber Tech Help Support Forums

    Are these issues related?

    I would certainly think so because it is possible that you sent that capture to someone else's user profile. Now, if you look at my screenshots, I sent my capture to "NewPC" which is the username I use when logging in. So, look at your shortcut and see if that is your username. If not, that's why it is not working.

    Hope this helps,

    Most definitely- If you have several users (why) each will have its own desktop. Use the snipping tool again, and select File - Save As, and make sure you find the correct path to your own desktop. (users\username\Desktop)

    You could just use the Print Screen key & use the Desktop App of:

    Postimage.org - free image hosting / image upload

    Much easier.
