I have Windows 8.1 installed and today I discovered that theStart button is back. I do not know how or when it happened but I now have thestart button and it is exactly like the one on Windows 7. A few days ago therewere some updates which I installed so I suppose it came down with that. I justclick on the little icon at the bottom left hand corner. As I said, it's justlike the one on Windows 7.Is this a fluke? Does anyone else have it?

Well aren't you the lucky one....Right-click on it and check properties... not sure how it got installed without your knowledge but M$ are only releasing a toned-down one with Windows 9 AFAIK..

I have that too, but I installed Classic Shell.

Yeah, you must have something installed like Classic Shell to get that start button in Windows 8 or 8.1.

I am getting more and more used to the start on 8.1, though if they do bring back the conventional start button I would not complain too much.

It's definitely something like classic shell cause I just check mine after an update and it's still the basic one that came with 8.1...

Yes, I do have Classic Shell installed. But I've not noticed this before. So if I'm understanding it right, it's not unusual but it's simply because I have Classic Shell installed. Is that the reason?

Correct. You got the same as all of us. Now if you want to go back to the Metro start, right click on the start icon and Exit.

I apologize if I got you all shook up, dude. But this forum is to ask questions. You shouldn't make anyone feel like an ass because they asked a dumb question. And, yes, after thinking about it, it was a dumb question. I felt like a dumb ass even before you made your remark about my false alarm.

I wouldn't be at all embarrassed by it, Frank. It says it all in Brink's sig.

Agreed.

And no one is attacking anyone, it's simply the wording of the post.
