I'm having a very easy time navigating. O_o

Top left corner, last opened app or cycle through running apps. Move the mouse down and you get a traditional taskbar type thing.

Bottom left takes you to the start page, and back to the last app you were on. Top right or bottom right opens that other menu which I only ever use to open control panel.

Also you can hit the windows key to open the start page and start typing the name of the program, then hit enter to open it. Exactly like on previous OSs but this is much faster.

I feel like I'm actually navigating faster and easier than on W7.

    Thanks for the suggestion

At least it makes buzzing noises now.
Right click the driver and try the compatibility mode, after that run the test and choose Win 7 as last system it worked correctly in. It worked for me with me Asus D2 Xonar sound card.
    I forgot about that.

It didn't make any difference though.
I also ran sfc /scannow, but it claimed there were no problems.

    I've downloaded ViStart.
Hopefully that will make this "abomination" partially useful.

It's a pity, because the RAM usage and speed are excellent.

At first I hated the new UI but after using it for a couple of days I am beginning to like it. I find the speed of Win 8 CP much faster than Win7.

Same here , it's more fast to find an application in the start page than scrolling down the list of program in Windows 7 start menu.

That would be true if one could color code the tiles for the different types of programs. But if you have a lot of programs (and tiles) it becomes a bit messy. I prefer the toolbar where I can make subfolders and organize the programs.

YES! This is killing me. I hope and pray someone finds a way to let us change those tiles more than we can now. Driving me nuts. I'm liking 8 more than I did with the DP but whoever thought "minimal tile finagling" was a great idea is a moron. And I'm sure it wasn't one guy, it was a Redmond-campus full of morons. The best thing about a PC is being able to make just about every little pixel your own. With 8 it's harder to do. Not a big fan of that.

This is crazy that at this stage of pre-release folks feel the need to change the UI (and count me as one of them). Hope MS allow a classic style option but wouldn't be surprised if what we see now is it. They refused the classic menu option when releasing Office2007 and insisted upon ribbons. Hence many users are still on Office XP and 2003. I'm sure though the OEM's will come to the rescue on this and be flooded with requests for Win7.

Maybe grouping similar programs will help?
Group them together, ctrl + scroll-down and then name groups.

I just worked out that if you press the "windows key" on your keyboard to take you to the metro start screen and just start typing it brings up the search screen, no need to go hunting through the metro screen
