Right-click 'Lock the taskbar' only cuts those extra icons down to 2 and the thing one can click to see more. I hate this thing!!

Sorry I think I misunderstood you. Try unlocking moving that right border a bit and then locking again.

Btw, the left bottom right click menu (which you asked earlier) can apparently be accessed by + X too

That is why Metro is thrust upon you - that is why it is difficult to get rid of/ignore.

They have removed any real choice. That is what is so annoying.
    IMO, you are 100% correct.
You'll be paying a lot more renting your software from the "Cloud", as opposed to the current "buy the DVD" method.

Really, that's interesting....will try it shortly. I really should be getting on with household tasks instead of staring at this darned screen ;-)

Thanks re: the taskbar....it's a bit better but refuses to hide those extra icons altogether.

By the way, Windows + X momentarily did bring that menu up once and once only, now only brings up Metro and a search box therein.

The main reason why I am not yet downloading Consumer Preview is the absence of the Start button and no way of disabling the Metro unlike on the DP that I still use everyday and have updated to expire on January next year.

One of the main reasons I see why MS extended the expiration of the DP is that in case people did not like Consumer Preview, DP is still there.

But in terms of navigation, I hate the way they turned this way around. Come on, this is nuts!

Many people hated it this way in the first few minutes of use: FACT

Yes, in some ways, WCP is worse than WDP.

I hope MS are reading this.

I really want them to get it right.

And why we have to change? Why my Desktop have to look like my phone? I use a 3 monitors 1920x1200 for work, I hate to use my phone for other thing than phone, it's too small. I use my Laptop when I have no other choice, because it's too small, so I don't like a " for too small " OS in my desktop..... Aside Windows 8 have nice feature I like the new Task Manager, so I don't want a change just for change, I want they improve Windows 7, not to change it for please "too small" devices users.

But I still have hope, that Microsoft will give back the Start menu in the Pro and Enterprises version. It will make sense, they like we purchase a more expensive version. We see it with the Starter version, with limited option; you want more, you update to premium

You are right that people do not want to change and that's why it won't work. People are just not going to buy. And once Win8 is on the market, it will even slow down the PC sales unless the OEMs offer a 'downgrade' version. This whole thing will shake up the PC market - but not in a positive sense.
