I've had this issue with chrome where, I'll close it and reopen later to find the error "Chrome didn't shut down correctly, click Restore". I'm trying to delete the local google folder on my computer(then reinstalling) in the program files(x86) and It will not let me. Saying "Folder access Denied" I require permission, even though I'm the administrator. I came across this site:Take Ownership Of Files And Folders In Windows 8 where they offered a way to add a "Take ownership" option to my menu options and included a uninstall reg file. I already saw a similar thread on this site : http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2814-take-ownership-add-context-menu-windows-8-a.html but did not download from it b/c I did not know how to remove the reg file. I tried the take ownership from the first site and it didnt work, I used the uninstall reg file and now i'm frustrated and back to square one.

I can't even reinstall chrome at all b/c of some unspecified error, I just want to be able to delete the google folder on my computer to do a clean install.

Hi,

Use Microsoft Install Clean Up to remove Chrome. Then install normally.

If you still want or need Take Ownership, just double click the downloaded file. You do not have to worry or think about anything with it after, besides using it when you want to. Easy as can be.

In some cases, you still have to grant your own account permission to manipulate the folder or files (as in delete for your case - that's write access) after you take ownership of them.

You should also delete the Chrome or Google folder in your user folder before reinstalling:

%userprofile%/AppData/Roaming

and/or

%userprofile%/AppData/Local

I cant delete any of the folders they all require permisison that I dont have for some reason. IDK how to allow myself permission.

Yeah I saw that on the site, but I still need special permisison which is only given to "TrustedInstaller" I can allow myself to edit the doc but not delete it.

b/c the error still persists, thought the easiest way to fix was to remove all traces of chrome and restart anew.

You have to stop services and delete them from the registry too, if there are any. (I'm not familiar with Chrome at all.)

Best to do all this in safe mode.
