REMOVE totally metro from the OS?
Is it only me or do others experience a drastic slowdown of their PC after updating to 8.1? ever since I updated to 8.1 my laptop is slow and misbehaves in many and various ways.

If you want to remove Metro you'll have to go back to Windows 7. That comment was not meant to be sarcastic. You can hide Metro but you can't remove it from the OS. As Brink posted the best you can do is switch your defaults back to desktop programs and away from the metro apps.

It's possible for the w8 bloatware (also called apps). Do some googling. Example:

Removing the metro startscreen itself is another matter...
Am not recommending anything, any experiments at your own risk, 1st step: imaging\backup.
