Thanks for the hint, brummyfan, but really do You find it useful? I have installed classic shell and the current language is visible on the taskbar, but not the current layout. To check language/layout in METRO is even more tragic . .
Are You familiar how to change default shortkey combinations in Win8?

The hint is irrelevant. The suggested software SharpKeys simply remaps certains keys, not key combinations:
"SharpKeys is a Registry hack that is used to make certain keys on a keyboard act like other keys. For example, if you accidentally hit Caps Lock often, you could use this utility to map Caps Lock to a Shift key or even turn it off completely"

It is strange that keyboard language switch key combination cannot be changed by the user in Win8 like it was obvious to do in previous Win versions.. At least I cannot find how to do it.

The Dutch (Belgium) keyboard layout (LCIS hex code 0x00000813) usually has a Shift Lock key instead of a Caps Lock key. In Windows 7, it is possible to configure this correctly, as shown in this tutorial here: Quick Tip: Change the Shift Lock Behavior | ADdict
Does someone know how to do this in Windows 8, or should I just revert to Windows 7 because it's next to impossible for an experienced typist to type any text like this?

EDIT: Never mind, I found it.

Scroll down to keyboard layout you want to install, click Preview to check how it looks, click Add to add to the input methods:

I'm using windows 8 in Japanese, and want to add an English keyboard, but the step above only shows the Japanese keyboard layout. There is no other layout I can choose from.

OK. I wanted to see if the Add Input Methods link is there as it should. Seems to be, if I am correct that the highlighted item in image below is that:

But when you click it you really only have Japanese to select as your second screenshot shows.

Logically thinking this could be because of you using a non-latin character input language. If I am correct you need first install a latin character display language on your PC, I think that then you would also find other layouts here.

    My suggestion for now:
    • Create another admin level user account (no Microsoft Account needed, it can be a local account)
    • Sign in to that account, download and install English Language Pack (Display Language)
    • Set this new account to use English as Display Language
    • Reboot, log in to your original Japanese account
    • See if you can now change the input language

Come back here to tell how it went.

I already installed the English Language Pack. Like in your example, I can add any keyboard layout I want when I choose English as the display language.
But when I go back to Japanese, the only option available is still the Japanese keyboard.

I looked at some forums in Japanese, and it seems that some people are having the opposite problem. The default layout is in English, and they cannot change to the Japanese layout. Maybe it is a bug with the Japanese Display Language? One of the solutions is to change a value directly on the registry. I will try that and see if it works for me. Thanks anyway.
