Solved How to monitor success / failure of File History

I setup File History to backup to a external drive attached to the Netgear router. Seems to work fine. But, is there any way to get a notice if File History stops working, or comes across an error?

You should be notified via Action Center if File History encounters a problem.

Thanks! How I missed that, I don't know. I do wish the failure notification was more in your face. The action center icon is easy to miss for some people.

Sometimes the Action Center icon will be hidden by default.

To show it on the taskbar do this..

Right click the clock down in the lower right corner > click Customize Notification icons > select Show icons & notifications.

In my case, I'm looking after a bunch of win8 pc's at a community centre. The folks that use these computers often miss the fact their AV scan hasn't happened, let alone a white flag icon. But, it is what it is. Thanks again for your help.
