    CPU up time!

    hello
what's wrong with CPU up time ?
it counts even if the laptop is shut down
i even removed the battery but it still counts
it's more than 7 days up time and the hard disk response time is very high !
    what to do ?

Where/how are you determining CPU Uptime?

    Hi Zaref,

Under Windows 8 there are two different ways of "shut down". When you shut the pc down via de Charmsbar (the most likely option) the Kernel goes into hybernate. That is to ensure a quick boot.
When you shutdown the pc via rightclick on the Startbutton and then shutdown, the pc shuts down fully.

Now...when you choose the 'normal' shutdown, via the Charms bar, the next time you start the pc the CPU uptime will be cumulative because the Kernel didn't shutdown.

You can 'reset' this by performing a fully shutdown via the Startbutton, or choose for a restart. Restarting the pc will fully shutdown the Kernel session.

I hope this post is helpful.

Okay, so everytime I run Chkdsk it always finds errors on the disk. I am unsure why, but if I run chkdsk back to back, it will keep constantly find new errors every time. Also, the Chkdsk takes about 2 and a half hours to complete, and always gets stuck at 10% for most of that time. This is...
Hi there I'm running a Linux server with the time set via an NTP server -- It's fine - BIOS hardware clock is set OK to correct time too. Now when I boot up Windows VM's or run my Music / radio streamer system the time settings (on the VM's and the music server client) are always +1 hr out...

I'm wondering if anyone has tried ToolWiz Time Freeze or Time Machine on W8? It looks interesting. I'm reading the info for Time Machine but so far I see no mention of GPT. With rollback type stuff my biggest fear is that the rollback software will hose my system rather than the malware. :)
I want to make like a color changing background. One picture a lot of colors. I want to set background timer to 0.2 or what would fit for it to be smooth. Kind of like this : http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lzamr7NxJL1qjm5bto1_500.gif
(At least the Recycle Bin can be removed without a registry edit hack. These have always been my top 2 peeves of Windows.) How please. From the desktop view I simply want to look down and to the right to see the “Sunday, September 8, 2013 – 2:17PM” I see now ... but have to move my mouse...
I am using windows 8 and from time to time the whole laptop freezes with only short moments where you can move the mouse until it freezes again. And today I was using word and the program wouldn't let me work in it, you could see the mouse movement at the bottom of the screen only. I had to shut...
