I do apologize for having no humor, as I have never used that smiley.

No. It is necessary to spear the opponent to make a point. Who is for Apple? Apple has no start menu.

Why did Apple suddenly make an appearance? I can't see the relevance. A bicycle doesn't have a start menu either.

It was mentioned in previous post. Is bicycle a new Linux distro?

That's Ok, it just surprised me that somebody would actually take it seriously. I thought the "notepad opens faster" was an old joke?

Aren't we having fun. I enjoy to roughen up the fanboys a bit. Their lack of humor makes it even more fun. You can predict the answers before they are posted.

Are you referring to the Start Screen or the Modern UI? The Start Screen just launches the application, be it a program or App. In that sense it doesn't really have any impact on production. Production then depends on what program you launched to accomplish the task. If you are talking about the Modern UI then yes, you likely won't get it done with the current Apps that are available. That's what desktop programs are for. Once you launch those your not in the Modern UI anymore so its not a factor. If your running Windows RT your point would be very valid. If your running Windows 8 or 8.1, not so much.
In my post, I made it clear that the worry is about Microsoft moving in a direction to abandon the desktop and that thankfully, the public has slowed them down somewhat.

The Start screen is the playground. I understand how it all works. I just don't want to re-imagine a computer like that. lol

If the rumors turn out to be true, they are actually going the other way. They are making the Modern UI more like the desktop. Options like being able to pin (Metro) Apps to the taskbar, being able to resize the Modern UI screen. Windows RT would be a good candidate for going the other way, full Metro. It's almost that now anyway. You can't install or run any desktop programs other than what's already on it, and those were recoded to make them work in Windows RT. They likely could kill the taskbar etc on that and pull it into the Metro UI. IMHO, it couldn't hurt to differentiate it more form the normal Windows 8/8.1. Time will tell.

The cited article seems a bit deceptive. The HP website shows 34 Windows 8 and 8.1 laptops, and only TWO windows 7 laptops. I can't find anything at the HP website about $150 back for choosing Windows 7 on a laptop. Does anyone have a link?
