    Cannot boot from Flash Drive

I got this new Asus Transformer which is a Windows 8.1 system.

I made a few images with Macrium Reflect and created an UEFI recovery Flash Drive (with Macrium) for the Macrium recovery program. I can set the BIOS to boot from the stick (in the temporary or permanent BIOS settings). Problem is, when I hit Enter, it ignores the stick and boots directly into 8.1.

Is there another setting in the BIOS that I have to make in order to have it boot from the stick.

On my spec machine, there is a bios option to enable Boot from USB. You can still set it to boot to USB in the hard drive configuration, and if that option previously mentioned is not toggled on, it still will not boot to USB.

Then, there is some other setting even that affects it, where USB booting will not work without it set to on, but I forget off the top of my head. (I think "Enable removable storage boot" or similar.)

If you look around in the bios, I'm sure you can pinpoint other setting(s) to make it go.

Are you booting the CD/DVD/USB in UEFI mode.

Both Macrium Reflect CD or USB will boot in UEFI mode.

Thanks for the input. I scouted thru the BIOS. There were a couple of settings that I tried out, but none did anything. I even disabled secure boot. No cigar though.

This is bit long winded, to test USB drive.

    Make a
Recovery Drive - Create with USB Flash Drive in Windows 8
    without the copy Recovery Partition.

If the drive boots OK, delete all the files & copy the Macrium Reflect ISO/DVD to the USB drive.

EDIT--- It took me a while to figure that out but it works good, like it should.

Hi David, That is very interesting. I will try that. Seems the simplest solution especially since I have only 1 USB port on that Transformer. Question is though what do you do if the OS is completely dead.
