    Windows 8 Refresh/Reinstall Problem

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop which isn't performing too well these days.It is a year old and came preinstalled with Win 8.I had created a recovery media after purchasing.

So i'm trying to refresh my laptop but i get this error,"Some files are missing. Your Windows installation or recovery media will provide these files."
I've even tried refreshing with the recovery disk inserted, but it hasn't helped.

I had upgraded to Win 8.1 sometime ago(2 months back).Had some problems so refreshed it back to Win 8 then(refreshed flawlessly then without the recovery disks). My hard drive had stopped working after a few days(my mistake most probably). So i had given the laptop to the Dell service centre who formatted my system.

So how do i refresh my laptop.

I searched the internet a bit & got these results for some commands specified at a website:

Is the recovery disk the one that came originally with the system or one that the Dell Recovery Center gave you ?

Do you have your files backed up or do you need to save your files ?

You may want to contact the Dell Service Center for advice. It seems you may have to format your drive and reinstall Win8.

It has been my experience that the files that are missing are library files, not the standard libraries folders, but libraries you may have created. I have found if I want certain files to be copied to backup I can't refer to their library name, but instead have had to add them using their full pathname,

    C:\Users\username\my special files

As A Side Note: I am not a big fan of Windows backup tools, I find them very limiting

    In addition to sfc /scannow:

    There is:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

It needs administrator command prompt also.
It fixes the component store where sfc gets its fixing stuff.
    After running dism, run sfc.
Dism takes a long time to finish. It hangs on 20% for a long time & then suddenly finishes.
