Win 8.1 Start Screen Pins/Uninstall issue.

1. New apps from the Windows Store, and also new x86 software programs are not being pinned once they have installed. I have to manually pin them from the All Apps screen.

2. When I right click a modern app on the Start Screen and press 'Uninstall', the app doesn't actually uninstall. I have to then go and do the same thing from the All Apps screen to uninstall the app.

Surely this isn't normal behaviour?

I think it is. New apps by default in 8.1 are not pinned to the start. They go to all apps and you can choose what you want to pin to start. Also, it seems that apps is the preferred place to uninstall metro apps.

That honestly seems like a step backwards. A shame.

Well, there is a misconception that the start screen is the menu. When programs are installed, whether, metro or desktop, they all go to the start menu, right?

These are all directed to the apps area.

It was a goof, I think, to throw dozens of tiles onto the start screen in Windows 8.0 when installing programs.
Not well thought out. When you install programs, if you want a shortcut pinned to the desktop, you have to do it unless the installer does it.

Desktop menus read the content from the apps area not the start screen.
