Sure you can do (most) everything. But often in a much more inconvenient way as in 7.

Example: Find Resource Monitor in 7 and then try to find it in 8.1.

With my Start Menu 8 I simply type it into the "Search programs and files bar" after I click the Windows orb. Quite easy.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Being a douche I suppose.

This will never end. There are mousies and touchies. Especially when it comes to desktops and large laptops compared to tablets and phones.

LOL. Of course it will never end. This insisting that tifkam is for touch only is obsurd on its face. Anyway, a tablet or phone could never satisfy what I do, and touch is a useless technology for how I work. That is why this unwavering push that tifkam is for touch only and that it is difficult to use or not designed for mouse and keyboard or the desktop defies reality. I see no distinction between users pointing choices.
No one can do all touch, no one can do all mouse, no one can do all keyboard.

And for comparative simplicity, you said "click the orb", right, and when I am looking at start or apps, typing a few letters gets what I am looking for. LOL

I eventually found it. But not that way - it did not work. Maybe my system is retarded. Have to check on my new tablet.

LOL. I believe that. If search does not work, something is not right (on your system).
Funny, kidding about the tablet? A tablet can also be a personal computer that uses a mouse and keyboard, ha, ha. LOL

That's what I do. I use a bluetooth mouse and the keyboard - plus ths stylus for occasional tapping. I really bought it for the wife for when we travel because she has trouble with my Nexus. It is this one:
