Updated to 8.1 and now unable to run certain programs?

    Hello,

I would first like to state this is my first post so sorry if I am in the wrong location!

I updated to windows 8.1 and tried to run a program, Driver Booster (IOBit), and was unable to. It changed the cursor to a cursor w/ loading circle then kept it like that. It is still spinning as I type this. It requires admin privileges if that matters at all..

    Thanks!

That's the first thing I tried. No luck.

Appears to have happened with 'Smart Defrag 3', ironically also by IOBit.

if you start it from the start screen icon, did you right click on the icon and choose run as administrator to see if it will run
