I have an alienware 14 laptop that came with windows 8, and decided to upgrade to 8.1. The upgrade went fine and mist things seem to work. Overall I much prefer it to just 8, but I do now have a problem with shutting down and restarting. If I select shutdown the screen goes black but all my aliens are LEDs stay on an the hard drive is still spinning but it never goes off fully unless you hold the power button. If I restart it behaves in the same way but the after a few minutes will eventually restart. I have tried turning off fast boot and hibernate but nothing fixes it. Any ideas?

That didn't work but I have got to the bottom of it. In case anyone else has the same issue, it is the Qualcomm Bluetooth driver that needs updating to the latest version. It seems that this is what is preventing the proper shutdown/restart.
