Any hope for 8.1 Power Management Settings/options???

I note a zillion angry threads to MS re: the Power Mgmt issues in 8's.
    anyone know workarounds?

I've been working with 8.1 on a notebook, where all devices luckily are installed right and functioning right, until I go trying to make it play nice as a HTPC system... USB-attached HID/kbd/trackpad, HDMI-out to big HDTV, AC Powered, but no matter what I set, it still does as it wishes, losing the USB devices 100% of the time.... etc

    anyone clue?

Try turning off power saving features in the BIOS if you can and let Windows manage it only. Mixing those options in BIOS and Windows can produce unexpected results with some of the setting taking precedence over others.

what i've done for the time-being is setup the "High Performance" plan to basically do nothing but spin down the drive and turn off the display when on AC Power. thankfully, it works. its the only setting of any kind I could do to avoid sleeping when the lid is closed [that seems to override everything else - like the master trump card]

updating BIOS on a samsung is another story.... scary stuff

Hi, The way I know my desktop PC has gone to sleep is that the blue light around the power button flashes (instead of being on all the time). I'm playing around with some settings right now to find out exactly what is pulling it out of its sleep. I realized that if I go to Power Options and...
