Copying files from CD with Windows 8

Can someone help me? I finally got a CD to work in my new Dell computer. The files on the CD that I want to copy onto my computer are shown listed on the Windows 8 desktop or rather whatever the page is called that shows "Library," "Documents," "Music," etc. But there is nothing that shows me how to copy the files into the folder that I created in "Documents" where I want them saved.

There is no "save" in the File menu. There is no help under "Help" (which refers to some screen, with an arrow by Files and so forth, that I have never seen before nor know how to find, so it makes no sense at all, it must be for Windows 7 or 8.1 or something). There is no help in "Windows 8 for Dummies."

I have no idea how to copy these files. Can someone help me?

If you click on file explorer and open it, then look up at the top right corner. You should see an arrow pointing down next to the question mark. click on that, that will have a few options for you while you browsing the cd.

Thanks for the info. However, I don't know how to find "This PC - Section II (D)."

I experimented until I found that right-clicking on a listed file from the CD opens a box with "copy" in it. So I copied the file. Then I went to the folder where I wanted to save it, right-clicked on that folder, and clicked on "paste" from the box. That saved the file. I doubt if copying and pasting files is the way you're supposed to do it, but it worked.

Secure II (D is just the name of the usb drive I used.

Your usb drive would have a different name.
Your dvd & cd drives would be different too.

At least you figured out a way to do it.

I suggest you get a program like "Total Commander", "Free Commander" or something like that and make copying, moving and arranging files much easier.

there are many ways to do this ,everyone has a way they like ,this is mine .
I open explorer from the taskbar ,then I right click the explorer icon and open a second window ,and just drag and drop the file to where I want to put them ,just the way I have been doing it for years now

For as long as there have been "Windows" there has been multiple ways for doing things, like copying a file or folder from one place to another.

Drag n Drop means you have to have two directory windows open on your desktop at the same time. Difficult for many inexperienced users. Copy & Paste, is a bit simpler with only one Directory open at a time.

To go from the hard drive to a Flash Drive, for instance, You can right click on the file or folder to want to copy and then use the "Send TO" command to specify what drive to copy to.

There is NO argument about what method is best, because Microsoft gave us several and they all work. It's just a matter of what you've gotten used to using. At one time or another, I use them all. (Different strokes, for different folks! )

    Happy 2014 Everyone!
