Copying files from CD with Windows 8

I'm still most comfortable with TC, before that was Windows own File commander (win 3.1) and before that, in DOS times, Norton Commander was the norm if you didn't want to write a lot.
Total commander provides seamless work with archives, even .ISO, file editing, search, FTP, comparing etc. all in one handy program without too much work. I even keep a portable copy on thumb drive so when have to work on some other computer I don't have to chase files all over the place. If somebody is more comfortable with icons, it can be set to show them too instead of text. By far the easiest way to shuffle files..

Thanks all. I've finally got the hang of copying by (accidentally?) finding that toolbar or whatever that was hidden that has "move to," "copy to" etc. on it.

A new mystery has arisen as I try to learn about Windows 8. Today a website told me that to download something, if I was in Metro Windows 8 I would have to change to Classic Windows 8. Not knowing what I was in, I went ahead and downloaded successfully.

I went to the index of "Windows 8 for Dummies" to find out about Classic and Metro, and there's not a word in it about them.

Metro is the new start screen with the tiles which opens by default and the classic is desktop mode. You should see a tile that says/looks like your desktop, click on that and you'll see.

Thanks. My next move is to get rid of practically every tile on the Start screen, then add a few new tiles that I will actually be using.
