Weird Display Setting Bug

I had recently just got a BenQ XL2420TE for Christmas and I have been loving the monitor especially using my old monitor as a second monitor and having 2 1080p displays.
One bug that I have experienced that is quite bothersome is that after the 10 minutes I have set both monitors should go to sleep. But this is not the case. My old monitor goes to sleep but the BenQ goes into a werid mode where the screen is completely black but shows the mouse cursor. Obviously this is a Windows issue and not with the monitor but has anyone else experienced this and know what to do to fix it?

I have the monitor hooked up with Displayport if that makes a difference. I am also running Windows 8.1.

How is the first monitor connected? Generally, the display port connection is for a 3rd or more monitor setup. I would try using a DVI cable and recheck. It might have to do with the port order orientation...just a guess.

Ok I have messed around with it some more, what it seems to do is once it hits the time that it is set for for the monitor to sleep, both monitors go black at the same time, then the BenQ says no signal like it should and then both displays go into standby/sleep. 2-5 seconds later, the monitor wakes back up and all that is on the screen is black with the mouse cursor on it.

Also to add, I have tried unplugging the second monitor and still the same results. I don't know what else it could be. I would assume it would have to be a bug with windows or something?

did you try any of the suggestions made by bassfisher or Prostar, and masterchief

also do you have other power saving options set like sleep and hibernate that could be causing the issue

I did try looking for the power management function and found no setting that had anything to do with those settings just the off timer.
It isn't any obvious power management settings. I may end up just trying to do a reformat here soon after I get a new graphics card.

Well it still does it after a reformat and I also did try another cable as well. I don't know what else to try. It only does it when its hooked up displayport it did not do it when its hooked up with DVI.

Also now I have tried it with a different graphics card and no difference. All drivers are up to date.

The reason I need to use it in display port is because I have one other DVI monitor plugged in and than have my tv hooked in HDMI. So I am stuck since you can't use both DVI ports and HDMI at both the same time. You have to use the Displayport output.

I'm having the same issue. I have my computer set to never sleep, but the monitor turns off after 15 minutes. It then comes back on and just displays a black screen with the mouse cursor. It will stay like that for hours and never actually turn off. I'm not using a display port connection though, my Asus monitor is just connected via DVI. I'm running Windows 8.1 and I have an XFX Radeon HD 7870 card.

Yeah what's weird but for me the problem went away for like a few weeks or so and then has now come back. Super frustrating.
