Unable to use Skype on Windows 8.1

Hello, I am BARELY able to Skype For Desktop on Windows 8.1. Turns out it is not just me what has this issue
For starters it takes Skype several minutes to send and recvive messages as well as the CPU usage varying from 35%-60%(Average is 45-50%) it is also constantly using more than 0.3MB/s disk usage. But now and again Skype will tell me I have revived a messaged when in fact the message it said I revived was sent in Late December. Also it says some people are not on my contact list/ offline when infarct they are on my contact list and are online.

P.S I have tried Skype on other machines and it works just fine.

I would uninstall skype, download the latest version, then install that and see what's going on.

I would uninstall skype, download the latest version, then install that and see what's going on. My latest version is 6.11.60.102.

The latest version I can get is 6.11.0.102. But reinstalling does nothing.

    Skype Portable

    Hi, you could try this:
    - Uninstall Skype completely (Revo Uninstaller)
    - Restart your computer
    - Download Skype Portable and save it somewhere on your computer (I have mine in Documents) then open the Skype Portable folder and create a shortcut on your Desktop or wherever

I have always used Skype Portable and have no problems with it and it seems to use less resources, I have it running in the background at the moment and it's CPU use is 0% > 1.5%

If it doesn't work for you then just delete the Skype Portable folder and there is no harm done

My brother bought a Acer laptop with Win 8.0 and Skype installed. Then he upgraded to 8.1 and a newer version of Skype, but things did not work out, so he went back to 8.0 but his Skype stopped the notification process and he is unable to find the older version of Skype for 8.0. Now whenever someone calls him via Skype he does not get a notify. Any suggestions?
