Hi,
Completed a clean instal of 8.1 on a OCZ Vertex 4 SSD but cannot write any files to program files X86 folder? I am being told access denied. I have tried looking into the permissions etc but it will not allow me change anything in the Security User Permissions or anywhere else. I am obviously set-up as Admin but cannot get anywhere with fixing this issue and have now given up.

I am assuming that what you are saying is that you can not install any program to "Program Files (x86)"?
Sounds like something went wrong with your clean Install, I would use Diskpart to clean the disk and clean install again. You may find a work around but what you have going on is not normal and will probably continue to cause you grief in the future.

To change ownership. Right Click Program Files (x86)Select \Properties Select\Security select \Advanced change ownership to your Admin Account

I used OCZ toolbox to clean the disk as I have heard of problems with just using windows to delete and clean the data. Also OCZ makes sure the drivers etc are ok. Also all the security permissions are greyed out so I cannot change any of the options. Its strange as windows and the SSD are performing ok other than this problem. Thanks for you input it is appreciated

I've fixed it!!! After 2 attempts of secure erasing and clean installing its working fine. The route of the problem seems to be signing into microsoft account after clean instal. I guess it must import some data that caused the problem with the SSD!! On my 2nd attempt I bypassed this and also didn't connect to the internet and it has cured the problem. I am not sure that signing in causes the problem when importing data/settings from my old HDD drive my MS account was originally created on? Or, even more worrying I guess?, the generalsign in process alone is the cause of the problem? Anyway its fixed :D

Thanks for your suggestions thou, its appreciated
