Hi,
I accidentally deleted the EXCEL12 file in my ShellNew folder (C:\Windows\ShellNew). This file allows you to Right Click -> Create new Excel document on your desktop.
I created a replacement file in the same folder with the same name (but with different default fonts, which is what I was trying to achieve). Now whenever I create new Excel files from my desktop and open them, this error pops up "Excel cannot open the file XXX.xlsx because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file." Creating new Excel workbooks from Start works just fine, so this is more of a Windows issue than an Office issue.
Thanks for the help.
