I'm in the same boat! What are the benefits - over 8.0 - performance wise?

    Cheers

Here is everything new in 8.1, don't think there was huge performance increases as the point of this release I believe was to increase available features for functionality. Personally so much can now be done with Metro it has made it functional for me. Not to mention it is a free upgrade so why not as long as it is on somewhat modern hardware.

Will there be a Windows 8.2? I was reading that the next big release is Windows 9 or am I misinformed? I hope, I think MS should move to a new number system doe there releases.

This question was initially asked back in Jan. At that point in time there were only rumors as to when the 8.1.1 (not 8.2) update would be available so the advice was don't wait, move to 8.1.

However, now it's 2 months later and it's known that the 8.1.1 update has been released to manufacturing and it's general availability may be as soon as April 8th. It's actually been leaked to the web and adventurous soles can seek out the leaked update and install it now.

At this point in time, my recommendation would be to wait.

There is not going to be a 8.2. They are calling it 8.1 Update 1, and will be downloaded through Microsoft/Windows Update. I am guessing that they learned through the err's of their way. In that the Store was not the best way to update a OS.

Just to clarify. There is no 8.2.
As it is an update, it remains with its original title - 8.1

There are no current plans for an 8.2 but I wouldn't go so far as to say there isn't going to be one. Highly unlikely I would think though with Windows 9 on the way. Yes indications are that update 1 will be though Windows update, not the Windows Store.

I have had a terrible update from Windows 8.1 on my Mac OS X bootcamp. So that's why I was curious about the 8.2 updates regarding tweaks and bug fixes.

    Thanks for sharing your insights!

MS Tech III says KB2919355 won't install so it's my problem to reinstall 8.1/whatever = 3 weeks (again) loading my business software on the "hater" (multiple tries before success).
Tried to get some local techs to do the lion's share + correct idiot ASUS paritioning (C: = 150GB = 15% of the HDD? Really?)
Don't think I'm getting anywhere & have no ASUS OS disk, thanks.
Local & MS techs "no comment" to the idea of reinstalling w/win8.2 (Sept '14 reportedly) from disk might take longer to come from retail?

Wonder what my chances are to get away with a win8.2 disk wait, while only protected by Norton Int Sec + SpyBot?
Why? B/c win8.1 runs better than ever right now! ... and everything working fine (except my 16-bit checkbook, banned to a XP laptop banned from the internet).

    I wonder ..............
