Should I (or anyone else), be concerned about the Microsoft Confidential message?

    Hello PW,

No need to be concerned at all. When you disable Metro, Windows 8 thinks it's a pre-developer release. Thus, that message. We're hoping that the message may no longer display in the Windows 8 beta when it's released to the public.

I use the Start Screen in lieu of All Programs...

Right now, with the Developer Preview, you can't pin everything. Microsoft has detailed that everything that you could pin on the start menu will be able to be pinned to the Start Screen. One of the things I'm looking forward for is being able to pin all my custom libraries to the Start Screen versus the start menu.

But to find everything you have like in All Programs list, you click on Search from the Charms Bar, and you can see everything you have installed, like the All Programs list, but without the folders.

I either prefer pinning the items to taskbar or typing the names of the programs in the Run command box.

I did it in old fashioned way.
I made a temporary shortcut of the start menu folder on the desktop, later add it in the taskbar as a new toolbar. and removed the temporary shortcut. If happen to be in a rush I'll just go there and click it, it will automatically pop up when hovered over the list of all available menu folder.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks. I can now continue to edit the registry worry free... well, on the "Microsoft Confidential" side of things that is.

Good deal Shawn. If MS doesn't do it, you will do it. Right.

On my setup I have to access the programs by way of the bottom task pane by clicking onto double arrows opposite the library icon which opens up the complete menu tree and then I have to select < Computer > which opens a secondary menu tree and I select OS and that opens a menu tree and I scroll down to programs and that opens a list of programs...Very exhaustive and redundant process just to view your programs. As stated by the above comments, I do hope this process to access all programs is a one click process like in windows 7 in the beta release version. " Note " you can go to te window logo icon in the left bottom corner and place your cusor against the outer edge and it will display " search, settings, etc and click search and that opens a page and click on apps and all your programs are listed there but you have to use the slider at the bottom to go through the alphabet listed to get to the stated programs ....

I created a desktop shortcut to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu and added to my taskbar, but it resolves the aplications problem only... I still miss the other system icons / shortcuts.

The method in the tutorial is a nice way too, but sometimes the black clock rectangle freezes on the desktop.
