I have lots of file with the date as part of the filename for example.

snapshot-2013-10-01.7z
snapshot-2013-01-10.7z

When I try to search for a file name using 2013-10 it return BOTH the above whilst it should only list the 1st entry.

Is there a trick to searching something like this ?

Thanks in advance.

it's the minus sign , the search seems to take it to include anything containing either of the 2010 or 10.

? used to mean one character wildcard , I'm not 100% sure but searching for 2010?10 might do the trick.

Try wrapping your search in double quotes to take off special meanings like: "2013-10"

I don't know what to tell you. If you are running on a basic NTFS partition I recommend Everything Search

It gets the info right from the MFTs. Lightning fast.
