You probably installed a bit of Malware. Install Malwarebytes and update it, and run a full system scan with it. You don't have to buy it to do that.

Also google "TDSSKILLER Download" and Eset Sirefef Removal Tool" and download those, run them as well just to check. Also Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit finds a lot of infestations

I know Windows 8.1 has some irritating ads and popups that are seemingly built-in, is this what you are seeing?

If Malwarebytes did not find anything, make sure you try all of the other tools I mentioned. If these are the Windows 8.1 ads, I'm not sure how to get rid of those- Browse this forum, this issue has come up before. Just have to make sure it is not a Virus.

You should do a scan with a full AV program that is not Norton or Mcafee, AVG can find stuff, and Eset has at least a 7 day trial- Use the AV programs, don't use the smart security suites, just the basic Anti Virus with Real Time Protection.

Many web sites will be nearly unbearable with all the banners, ad's and pop'ups, so that's why whenever I install Firefox, the next thing that gets installed is "AdBlock Plus". Without it, I couldn't spend more than a few brief moments on most web sites.

Good Luck!

Happy Holidays, Everyone!

When you boot your Machine, open Task Manager and see if iexplorer.exe is running, even though you have not clicked on it, that's the only way we'll be able to see if that is the source of the Ads. And get that Adblocker too, it works.
