Opening a folder with lot of files(>2000) takes time

Anything that can be done to make it open instantly like the other folders? My 300 odd files folder also takes time. They files dont get changed regularly. Only a few get added.

Filling in your system's specs would be helpful for later reference.On what kind of drive are them folders located?Mechanical HDD,is the disk kind of full,5400 or 7200rpm?SATA interface?Why not splitting those subfolders into four,five or more folders?Is indexing enabled on that drive?If not needed,it could reduce that ''opening folder'' time.

I'm afraid that will be the case with most PCs. Try divvying up the contents to several smaller folders. Barring having an i7 with 16 GB of DDR 3, theres is not much to do to make it populate faster.

Lazy to do the sorting. Too many files. Also saving stuff into one folder is easier than manual selecting a folder each time while saving files. Drive is 7200 rpm. SATA. Indexing is on. I'm on Win 8.1.

Guess I'll just have to live with the delay then. Thanks for your inputs.

If you have a 7200rpm drive on a laptop, that will be damn fast. But on a Desktop it's normal speed, maybe you can find a 10,000 rpm drive somewhere.

I have heard alot about certain SSD drives being very slow, Samsung. If you buy an Intel SSD drive, those are fast.

are there multiple subfolders inside the folder?

Well, try cutting it in half, alphabetically - But A to M in a new place, and N to Z in another. Then add em to your Library
