Restart Start screen without logging off?

Title says it all. You can restart Windows explorer via task manager, but can I do the same with start screen? Because I changed the amount of tile rows on it, but I have to log off. Unfortunately, I am running a server which people are on currently and I'd hate having to wait a couple more hours to try this.

Any help would be much obliged. Thanks in advance.

    Hello ErraticFox,

If you have a screen resolution of 1920 X 1200 or above, then you could try OPTION ONE in the tutorial below to see how many rows you get on the Start screen without having to sign out to apply.

Start Screen - Metro Apps - Change Number of Rows in Windows 8

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Would there be a way without "Make everything larger"? I just want three rows but "make everything larger" distorts images of certain things.

Other than the other options in the same tutorial that require you to sign out and in, not that I'm aware of.

Well as you can see right now, I have the registry key set. But when I log off and back on, nothing has change? This is while having make everything larger, off.

If restarting the PC doesn't apply it, then you may need to try changing the DPI scaling for the Start screen. It may take a bit of experimenting to find the scale that works best for you though.

What screen resolution are you using?

1920x1080. I've done some research and apparently, you can't use the registry tweak in 8.1. This is a bummer.

EDIT: I've also used the DPI. I've tried 4 all the way up to 18 and restarted explorer every time I changed it, nothing else changed.

It is a bummer indeed. It appears it no longer works in the latest 8.1 now, and it tied directly to the set screen resolution instead.
