SaveAs dialogs save, but the box stays open?

Anyone else getting SaveAs dialogs save, but the box stays open? It's weird. For example I save a file in a folder where the same filename already exists. It asks me if I want to overwrite the existing file. I click to do so. But the box stays open. If I hit Enter again to work the Save button, I get the overwrite query all over again. Mouse click seems to work normally. But the Enter key has something weird going on.

Permission problem maybe ? Do you have write permission on the specific file ?

No. It's not an error. It's almost like a dropped mouse click. Except the save button functions. I don't recall seeing this ever. In my memory it's always been either the button was pushed or it wasn't. It saves the file, but the dialog doesn't exit. It just sits there.

As I see it your program is unable to do something before closing the dialog box. What comes to mind first is a temporary file, it might have problems deleting it before closing the dialog.
Have you tried to save as an admin ? or maybe a different user ? Is it in a specific application or any with a save as dialog ?

It's not specific to my program. Pale Moon browser, as example, when you right click and choose save link as.. you enter the filename and hit Enter which should press the Save button. It saves but the dialog does not close. If you click the Save button with the mouse, it always works. To me that means system bug.

It may have opened two "save as" dialogues - If it downloaded, then click out of the second instance.

A doubled 'Save As" dialogue WILL pile on one right on top of the other, so it will LOOK like you clicked it and it stayed there.

That doesn't account for click vs enter key

You have to click to get the window, but the enter key should be the same as clicking once in the "save as" box. The Website you got it from may have regged a single click as one. Maybe.

One click sets the focus and clicks the button since Win9x and probably Dos TurboVision. It's W8 that's broken.

I always right click and hit "open in new tab" - Try that.

(if the download starts or dialogue opens, the extra tab should close itself, depending on Browser).

    Which Browser, IE, Chrome, Firefaux?

In Windows 8 (and still in 8.1 Update 1) you get links to more information in various dialogs and pop-up windows.
