If you like, you should be able to hide that Control Panel icon using an option in the tutorial below.

I don't wanna seem stupid, but how do I get to step 1. 1. Open the all users, specific users or groups, or all users except administrators Local Group Policy Editor for how you want this policy applied.

If you have Windows 8 (core) and not Pro or Enterprise, then you would only be able to use Method 2 in the tutorial instead.

Thanks, I did it a couple times and can't seem to get rid of Akamai, I'm thinking I cant get rid of it unless I format my laptop, it really isn't a bother. Thanks again :)

Nope I remember months ago, it was installed with a game I had downloaded, but I uninstalled both from Programs and Features, now the Akamai control panel just shows up when I go to Network and Sharing center.
