Hi, I’m physically disabled & I CANNOT use my hands nor a mouse. I wear a head stick/pointer with an eraser at the tip of the head stick/pointer. Currently, I have a 6-year old Dell laptop which as an Add-On Magic Touch Screen enabling me to touch anywhere on the screen vs. using a mouse. If I were to buy a 15.6” Touch Screen Laptop, an eraser would not work because the screen requires only allows a human touch; as I understand. However, I’m told (through chatting online with Dell) that I can attach a stylus onto my head stick/pointer which then will enable me to use touch screen. I cannot use/transfer the Add-On Magic Touch Screen onto a new laptop because I want a bigger size laptop/screen & unfortunately it’s not in my budget to buy a new laptop & a new Add-On Magic Touch Screen.

Here’s my question, if I were to use/attach a stylus to my head stick/pointer I would also be using the stylus to type/peck at the keys with. (I’m on my computer anywhere from 8 to 10 hours 7-days a week literally). How durable would a stylus withstand with hitting the keys for the length of time I spend on my computer/laptop?

Thanks in advance

There are some Voice solutions too, even MS Speech is a bit friendlier now. I have a sight-impaired friend, she uses some kid of speech software, and you would not know she is impaired. I'll have to look up.. It's called "Jaws" - Maybe you can get that, it may free you up from having to use your stylus so much?

I have a computer set up for Finances, I have Speech set up for that, my daily routine is "Start Listening" - "Quicken" - "One Step Update" (then I enter my password) - "Enter, Enter, Close Window" and then I have a macro called "Ribbons" that starts my screen saver until the next day. I bought a Core Duo for an old eMachines eTower to make that work, and now that it is trained it hardly ever messes up.

Hi dj, you might want to check youtube for "active stylus". You can get a passive stylus with extra tips off evilbay real cheap. The active stylus starts around $30 and goes up. Dell has a new one that looks pretty good, as far as tip wear I can't say as I have no hands on experience with one yet.

The touch screen w8.1 lap top, combined with a speech program should work out really will for your circumstances. I just picked up a Lenovo Flex 15 and it came with a light version of Dragon, plus you have the Windows speech program. Good luck with want ever decision you make.

If you buy from e-Slay, be very careful. Sometimes it is a 50/50 chance. I've been lucky so far, but I lost about 50 bucks in shipping charges last summer.
