Disable skydrive sync and login without nuking system?

So at some point in time I enabled skydrive sync, as a result I have to login to my live account on every boot and some new folders in explorer, which doesn't do anything for me. What's the safe way to disable it? I don't care about skydrive sync as I'm already doing regular system images.

Just to try and clarify things a bit, when you sign in to your Microsoft account at startup, that is to sign in to Windows 8/8.1 instead.

SkyDrive is not related to backup or system image. Think of SkyDrive has just an online hard drive that makes sharing files with other PCs and storing files away from your PC easier to do.

Yes, that's normal and by default.

Skydrive integration removal worked excellent! Autologin less so. After rebooting I was still asked for a login at boot, and my blank password wasn't accepted(never configured one). Had to navigate login options and enter my microsoft acount username and password. Reverting settings for now.

Yeah, you'll need to enter your Microsoft account credentials to set it to be signed in automatically at startup.
