My Images redirecting to Main User

Good afternoon everyone

On a MSI CR70 running on Windows 8.0, I wanted to change the location for "My Images" from "D:\Pictures" to "C:\Users\Main User*\Pictures". Because the folder didn't already exist, the bar where you could fill in the new location** kept setting it to "C:\Users\Main User". So now I have accidentally changed the location from My Images to "Main User". It's very weird this redirecting, as the "Main User"-folder looks disappeared in Win Explorer, but then "Contacts" is in "Main User\Contacts" and at the same time in "Main Use\Images\Contacts". It's frustrating that Windows doens't let me change the location of "Pictures" back to where it came from or back in the normal folder, and I don't like it.

If somebody could help me, they would make my day!

With kind regards...

*I don't exactly know how to translate it
**how is this actually called in English?

Hello Breakboon, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You might see if restoring the affected user folders back to their default locations using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below may be able to help. Afterwards, you could move them to where you wanted instead.

User Folders - Restore Default Location - Windows 7 Help Forums

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Thank you very much, Shawn, and thank you for the welcome. There just this one issue: In step 25 they ask to enter

attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Pictures" /S /D

But then the command prompt returns

File not found - C:\Users\(main-user)\Pictures

I guess that's because the 'My Pictures'-folder is actually redirected to/replaced with the (main-user)-folder? :-/
At least there exists something to correct stupid mistakes :)

C:\Users\(main-user) doesn't exist
Desktop\(main-user)\Pictures exists
This redirecting stuff, it's confusing!

So the main user profile folder "C:\Users\(user-name) for this account doesn't exist on C: ?

Did you only move the user folders in the main profile folder, or the whole profile folder itself?

It's sounding like you moved the whole profile folder. Do you have link to the steps you used?

No, I only changed the location of the user folder. But somehow, the (user-name)-folder on C:\ has been replaced with "My Pictures".

So C:\Users\My_Pictures does exist. And if you click on that folder, you get the other user folders like Contacts, Downloads...
I certainly didn't move the whole profile folder.

In that case, double check to make sure that all of your user folders are set correctly to the default location in the registry using the same tutorial above.

Next, only double check to make sure that the path is correct for your user profile "C:\Users\(user-name)" in the registry using Method Two in OPTION ONE below.

This is what regedit looked like when I entered the code in the command prompt. Hoofdgebruiker = main user

Should I put the Pictures Location back to 'c:\Users\Pictures', where it came from before I changed it and then continue with the second tutorial you posted? :)
