Ye old "Winload" issue at startup..

I have installed Windows 8,(at least that what "My Computer" tells me).on a Hewlett Packard xw4600 workstation 64 bit .

The PC is clean and I Have Bitdefender Anti virus in it also.

Nevermind my problems with BitDefender, My real problem is with startup.

When I startup the error is, "occasionally", an error with winload. Specifically, ---"File:\Windows\system32\winload.exe errorcode 0xc00000e9"

I have to use CNTL-ALT-DEL and restart it, and then my computer loads the login info screen, and I can sign in

This has many solutions posted on the web, and it seems it is a popular problem. The Bitdefender site has not been any help, and its been going on for two months....

Any help or suggestions folks? I will wait for the questions. I used to work a lot with PCs, but instead became a AutoTech and Mastered that dept..

Now collecting SSDI cuz my Doctor made me stop working....(Lol Well that's another story and ...)So be ginger with me because I am on a strict and tight budget.

Thank you in advance and for reading this

Uninstall BitDefender. Does the problem go away? If yes, use the Windows Defender that comes with Windows 8, it's a good anti-virus program.

Bitdefender may not be the problem, you should do a full hard drive scan. Yo have a regular Hard Drive in there, and not a Solid State Drive?

Download Hiren's Boot CD from my link below, burn it, boot to it, and go into Dos Programs.

Look for Hard Drive Tools. Find GWscan, try that, if it detects your hard drive, run the first two scans, the SMART scan and the short scan. The Short scan will tell you if you have any read problems with the drive, and it can fix em.

If GWscan will not work, then you have a Toshiba or Hitachi hard drive, and they have the tools for those drives in the same area.

I dont know if this will clear up that problem, but it might, because all errors like yours have to do with the drive with the System Boot information not being accessible. If you have more than one drive, do it for all of them- Because there may be an issue where the Boot Volume is on one drive, but the OS is on another, I have that going in my PC.

I Got the right version now thanks guys. Now although the CD says there are 700MBs free, there was a problem burning The Hirens to disk..
Now got to go thru the hardware and make sure I have the right drivers and firmware, It should work ,it worked before.

I have the old version of Hirens Boot CD Version 9.9, which I made a few years ago and I really like it. If that would work of course I would...Lol No Way... I will get a new Blank CD and make sure all the hardware is up to date. Then I will burn it and go..

I have some project helping a friend repair his Moms Washing Machine Thing-a-ma-bob tomorrow, and of course there is the holiday and the weather, so don't give up on me Ill be back, who knows how soon.. I fully plan on posting my solution with all the details.

Right now Windows defender is doing a full Scan because Bitdefender is gone. More on that process when all the problems are fixed.

I still had the startup error when I did the restart and had to Cntrl Alt Del to get it to start soo.. The problem persists.

If I don't see you until later, hope you all have a great holiday and stay safe.
