I have installed Windows 8,(at least that what "My Computer" tells me).on a Hewlett Packard xw4600 workstation 64 bit :D.

The PC is clean and I Have Bitdefender Anti virus in it also.

Nevermind my problems with BitDefender, My real problem is with startup.

When I startup the error is, "occasionally", an error with winload. Specifically, ---"File:\Windows\system32\winload.exe errorcode 0xc00000e9"

I have to use CNTL-ALT-DEL and restart it, and then my computer loads the login info screen, and I can sign in

This has many solutions posted on the web, and it seems it is a popular problem. The Bitdefender site has not been any help, and its been going on for two months....

Any help or suggestions folks? I will wait for the questions. I used to work a lot with PCs, but instead became a AutoTech and Mastered that dept..

Now collecting SSDI cuz my Doctor made me stop working....(Lol Well that's another story and ...)So be ginger with me because I am on a strict and tight budget.

Thank you in advance and for reading this:)

Uninstall BitDefender. Does the problem go away? If yes, use the Windows Defender that comes with Windows 8, it's a good anti-virus program.

Bitdefender may not be the problem, you should do a full hard drive scan. Yo have a regular Hard Drive in there, and not a Solid State Drive?

Download Hiren's Boot CD from my link below, burn it, boot to it, and go into Dos Programs.

Look for Hard Drive Tools. Find GWscan, try that, if it detects your hard drive, run the first two scans, the SMART scan and the short scan. The Short scan will tell you if you have any read problems with the drive, and it can fix em.

If GWscan will not work, then you have a Toshiba or Hitachi hard drive, and they have the tools for those drives in the same area.

I dont know if this will clear up that problem, but it might, because all errors like yours have to do with the drive with the System Boot information not being accessible. If you have more than one drive, do it for all of them- Because there may be an issue where the Boot Volume is on one drive, but the OS is on another, I have that going in my PC.

I Got the right version now thanks guys. Now although the CD says there are 700MBs free, there was a problem burning The Hirens to disk..
Now got to go thru the hardware and make sure I have the right drivers and firmware, It should work ,it worked before.

I have the old version of Hirens Boot CD Version 9.9, which I made a few years ago and I really like it. If that would work of course I would...Lol No Way... I will get a new Blank CD and make sure all the hardware is up to date. Then I will burn it and go..

I have some project helping a friend repair his Moms Washing Machine Thing-a-ma-bob tomorrow, and of course there is the holiday and the weather, so don't give up on me Ill be back, who knows how soon.. I fully plan on posting my solution with all the details:).

Right now Windows defender is doing a full Scan because Bitdefender is gone. More on that process when all the problems are fixed.

I still had the startup error when I did the restart and had to Cntrl Alt Del to get it to start soo.. The problem persists.

If I don't see you until later, hope you all have a great holiday and stay safe.;)

You want the ISO image, it doesn't matter what OS, it runs outside of the OS completely. Just use that version 15 - 9 is way too old and some of the Dos Programs are too old - Ya need the version 15.x

Ack - They changed the DL into a ZIP file, it does not matter. Extract the ISo then burn it.

When the disk boots, you will see "Dos Programs" - Use arrows to get toi that and hit Enter.

In Dos Programs there will be Hard Drive programs, choose that and hit enter again.

Then you can go through all of the Drive Scanning programs that are in there. If you have a Seagate or WD hard drive, use GWscan, its on the 3rd page of HD programs. If you have a Hitachi or Toshiba hard drive, you should use the Hitachi or Toshiba programs. I think there is a samsung HD program in there too.

Basically with GWscan you wanna do a complete drive scan, but not unless the first two test results tell you to do it. Sometimes I do it anyway - It takes up to an hour and a half to run depending.

If any of the HD scanners say that there are too many errors on the drive to repair, you can use ViVard, which is a lot more exhaustive, and takes 4 hours to run, it remaps all bad unreadable areas.

Basically this is just to see IF you have any read issues with the drives, usually in my experience, if Read Element Failure is happening, it causes all kinds of problems booting and running the OS.

It's important to run a 3-step CHKDSK after running the full drive scan, you can use Mini XP which is on the disk to run it on all drives, it's in the Program Menu, just pull it up, and enter the drive letter and hit enter. It's easier than running the CHKDSK from within Windows 8.

You can use GWscan then, but just in case it don't work, you can use the Seagate Tool use the DOS version, not the GUI version.

Run the GWscan Smart Test, then run the SHORT test. if it finds no error, you can either manually run the long scan, or move on to Mini XP and run the CHKDSK from in there.

    Other Info
Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
Thanks X,
I did the GW scan full and there were no errors.
I also did the seagate scan within the CD.
I ran Chkdsk from within MiniXP program,

Only have one actual HDD, the Seagate. but a few drives within them.

Chkdisk repaired some of the file systems,
"MFT mirror files" on E: F:
"The file system" on C and my USB Drive, (A Maxtor)

but when I exited and rebooted had the same error, The pc loaded "Windows repair", and left me stuck in the screen that maybe we should call, the "BSOD" :sarc:, or maybe a new, "NotherBSOD".

The screen again gives me the choice of using "Enter" or "F8" , which neither does anything .

It again took CNTL-ALT-Del to get it so it would boot up normally

Yes I already tried unhooking everything including the USB Drive, and evrything else, even the sound system and unplugged the PC and all I had hooked up was the Monitor, modem,(Comcast), keyboard and mouse.

What do you suggest next X? Im willing and able sir..

Thank you for your time..:)
