Remembering View Settings, Sort by Setting and Thumnails ?

Could anybody tell me why windows can't remember my view settings, sort by settings and thumnails ?

I have different types of view settings for different folders but everytime I restart my computer they change. Same thing with thumbnails expect they seem to last a couple days before disappearing, sometimes a thumbnail will appear on a different folder then it was set to.

This is incredibly frustrating, I'd appreciate it if somebody could help.
