windows explorer help

I just installed windows 8.1 and am already regretting the decision. I can't believe how horribly Microsoft failed with this OS. It's almost as if they are purposely trying to make people mad and frustrated and prevent them from being productive.....anyway...I've managed to disable windows store, and change it so the start menu looks similar to how it used to and it boots to the desktop, and in windows explorer I've changed it to show all folders on my C: drive using the details view, which is how i prefer it, however, when I expand my network drive and click on a music folder, it does not use the details, it shows some idiotic music template view that Microsoft, in their infinite dumbness thought that anyone would like....how can I change it so that all folders show the details view? I've tried going up to View, Details, then Options, and the "Apply to all folders" is greyed out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
