    burning a DVD?

not sure where to start with this question so i'll start it here. now I've got windows 8 and I think it's the home edition. now, will this thing burn DVDs on it? I know I can record CDs with it, but I can't find information about burning DVDs, even in this windows 8 for dummies book.

I think there is an option in media player, depends on what you want to burn though.

There is NO DVD Burning option in the Windows 8/8.1 Disk Burner - It's CD ONLY.

You have to have Media Center installed, there is a DVD burner in that but it sucks..

    Get IMGBURN:

    The Official ImgBurn Website

IMGburn is the only real decent free burning program, you have to be very careful when installing it, you can OPT OUT of the junk that comes with it. The Program Itself is great. When Installing IMGburn always choose "Advanced Install" - and look at each new screen carefully, the Opt Out is hard to find on some of them, if it says "Accept" then do not click it. They make it look like you are accepting an issue with IMGburn but you are actually accepting an add on opt in program.

Sorry, I should have warned you, I use an older version that has less of those OptOut addons.

But I need to iterate, IMGburn is practically the only free DVD and Blu Ray burning Software in existence, they add that crap cos it is a free program. And in WIndows 8, its the ONLY DVD burning solution unless you go for Roxio.

And, not to mention, the guy who made IMGburn cracked the VOB protection on DVDs, the Macrovision- He got in a lot of trouble for that so that is why the IMGburn program has the opt in stuff, he has to pay court costs.

besides free, is there one that is not free but I have to pay for? that stuff has no junk to worry about. and I need something that once I buy it, it's mine. I had to buy a calendar program to replace what came with the windows 8 software and the freeware had to much junk to deal with. but after I bought it I found out I must pay for it again every year.

Nothing as powerful as IMGburn, you wont find it.

You can get Trial versions of Roxio, but they are no way as powerful as IMGburn.

Once you get the garbage out of your PC it will be fine, IMGburn does nto depend on those things to run, only to install but you just have to Opt Out of all of them.

Look, it is the best option.

Try UltraISO, you can buy that, it's not that expensive, but IMGburn burns better, its a very smart program, and it is made specifically to burn DVDs. If you want to burn DVDs that will not be coasters,m use Imgburn. It's only been around for over 15 years.

    Ok there are Seven Steps:

    Now pay attention HERE

Click image for larger versionClick image for larger version

Do it like this, and I Absolutely Guarantee NOTHING else will be installed but IMGburn.

Once you get it installed, it is absolutely the easiest Program to use and burns the best Disks you will ever Burn, because it verifies each disk.

There is an Easy-Picker where you choose what you want to do, but if you have an ISO image of any DVD movie, all you have to do is right click on the file and tell it to burn with IMGburn. If you have the VIDEO_TS files, you just drag those into the Program in Writing Mode.
