Custom Scaling of DPI of Modern UI in 8.1?

I am running Win 8.1 on a Yoga 2 Pro convertible laptop with a 3200 x 1800 res screen. Although my DPI scaling is set to 250%, the Modern UI tiles and text (Start screen) are still too small. In addition, many of the apps show text that is too small, as well.

This Eightforums article showed a terrific registry hack to adjust this in Windows 8. Unfortunately, the article warns that it does not work in Windows 8.1.

Can any suggest a way to increase the text size of the Modern UI? As it is right now, it's unusable.

Hello. Welcome to 8 Forums.

Have you tried to make an adjustment using the metro tools.

When looking at the Start Screen:
Charms > Settings > Change PC Settings > PC and devices > Display

Thank you for your suggestion. Yes, I have set it to "Larger." Unfortunately, it's not large enough. I need a way to override this and make it "extraLarger."

There is one ultimate solution for that, but it is specified for temporary use only and takes some getting used to. Not practical to use all the time. Start the magnifier

I appreciate the suggestion and will explore that. Still, it would not help me increase the text size in the Win8 apps, etc.

With all the high-res tablets and screens coming out, it's incredibly hard to believe that Windows hasn't provided a way to make its UI readable.

I don't have the advantage of having a monitor capable of that resolution, which in your case, I would suggest is the root cause of the problem?

I have only 1280 x 1024. This gives me perfect rendering on my main monitor and on my laptops. My only regret is that in the smallest icon size, there is no text. This would allow me to improve my start/modern screen. I have tried both Olby and "Modern Tile Maker", but the text rendering has been a failure.

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.
I'm haveing the same issue, I'm using win 8.1 on my HTPC conected to 50" 1080p tv, the tv stands 4 meters away from the couch so it's not possible to read the text on the tiles. Anyone found a solution for this?

I'm wondering this, too. Has anyone found a way?
