need help with this wired folder and file??

HI i have this wired folder and file in my C:\Users\my name file called .gstreamer-0.10 it has a file called registry.i686.bin and says its a VLC media player file its been on my system since 2012, i have scanned it and all scans come up clear. What the heck is it and do i need it i looked for a program called .gstreamer and i don't see one on my system unless this is leftover from my old win 7, as that is about the time frame i had that on this PC. Is this part of VLC media player? or is it something i may have had on my pc at one time. Any help would be awesome at least its not a virus as i uploaded it to this site VirSCAN.org - Free Multi-Engine Online Virus Scanner v1.02, Supports 37 AntiVirus Engines! and checked it and also did local scans but i still have not a clue what it is.

Regarding, registry.i686.bin. You might have associated .bin files to be open with VLC so it shows as VLC media file. Open the file with Notepad and see if it contains any text.

yeah nothing was in there got a hold of the folks at gstreamer and they said it was safe to delete it so i killed it. They said if it was needed it would be recreated by what ever is using it and so far nothing.

If you tried to do any customised playback with VLC, thats when it was most likely created. VLC is not just a player, it is a streamer, hence the name Video LAN. Files just like this are created when I use my VLC Streamer app on my iPhone, which allows me to pick any movie on any drive in my system and watch it on my iPhone.

Also, If you start messing with your Sout Stream it will create files like that... I use Sout Stream with my "Ye Old VLC Remote" app which has a Headset Mode, that runs the audio output of what I am watching into the Headphone Out of my Phone. It's all just forms of Streaming, streaming relies on cached local content and buffering to work. Plex does this too, PLEX uses a DLNA server which has the ability to grab info about the content from sources on the net, and all this needs Caches to work right. Usually they show upo in your User Folder in APPDATA Local.

And if yo have upgraded to VLC 2.1.x it may have added something, else, I havent done it yet, so I'll have to see. VLC is a very powerful program for how small it is.
