I haven't found a way to disable that on the Apps screen yet, but just to know that the "New" will automatically go way after X amount of time. I'll post back if I find a way though. S S Malik Member Member Messages 26 Nov 17, 2013 #4 I was able to figure it out. I deleted the files listed below from %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows. Then I signed out and signed back in. The 'NEW' text was gone from the newly installed programs. There was no negative effect whatsoever. appsFolder.itemdata-ms appsFolder.itemdata-ms.bak My Computer System One OS Windows 8.1 (64-bit) Computer type PC/Desktop

Brink Administrator Administrator mvp Messages 25,263 Nov 17, 2013 #5 That's a good first step. To bad it resets your Start screen by doing so though. http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18610-start-screen-reset-windows-8-a.html Now just to find the setting to turn only it off.
