'NEW' text with newly installed programs!

Newly installed programs have a 'NEW' text next to their names. Is there a way to disable this feature in Windows 8.1?

Hello Maliksaad, and welcome to Eight Forums.

I haven't found a way to disable that on the Apps screen yet, but just to know that the "New" will automatically go way after X amount of time.

I'll post back if I find a way though.

I was able to figure it out. I deleted the files listed below from %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows. Then I signed out and signed back in. The 'NEW' text was gone from the newly installed programs. There was no negative effect whatsoever.

That's a good first step. To bad it resets your Start screen by doing so though.

Now just to find the setting to turn only it off.

You are correct, I just noticed that. I guess this is not safe... sorry about that.
