Ever since I started running Win8 about six months ago, I've had several instances of corrupted tasks. The one task that keeps getting screwed up is License Validation under Task Scheduler LibraryMicrosoft\Windows\WS (it's superhidden; you won't be able to see it there, even if you have the option to show hidden tasks enabled).
Each time I had a corrupt task, I was able to resolve the problem by grabbing a clean copy of the task from my Win8 disc, then adding an .XML extension and importing it.
Now that I've updated to Win8.1, the task from my Win8 disc is invalid. I've compared the two, and they're quite different.
The error I'm getting is:
Task License Validation: The task XML contains a value which is incorrectly formatted or out of range.
When I try re-importing* this task, I get this error:
The format of the task is not valid. The following error was reported: (40,26)urationT0S
Line 40 of the task XML shows this:
<Duration>PT0S</Duration>
What should this line say?
Could someone please provide me with a non-corrupt copy of "C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\WS\License Validation", or tell me what else I can do?
* Copying, deleting, adding .XML extension, then importing back in.
