Solved Windows File Explorer is extremely unreliable

So, I've just installed Windows 8.1 on my pc, and most of the time when I open the file explorer that comes with windows it comes up with a green loading bar at the top, which usually takes around 10 minutes just to view the files, then, other times when I open the file explorer, it loads instantly. Here's a screenshot of what happens:
Also, when I make a new folder, then double click and re-name, when I press enter the file name doesn't change, then the file explorer crashes, then when I go back, it shows the file has been re-named.

I'm not sure if you're able to click that so just copy and paste it.

I'm getting really annoyed at this, and I can see this being a problem, which will make me want to install windows 7.

My Specs:

GPU - HD 6790
CPU - AMD BULLZOZER FX 6100
RAM - 4GB CORSAIR
HDD 1TB WESTERN DIGITAL BLUE
And others which I don't seem to thing are necessary. To note: I don't have a Solid State Drive.

What I think the problem is:
Well... I recently installed Microsoft Office 2013. And ever since I installed that I have had problems with the file explorer. However, I don't see a reason why a Microsoft product, would affect a Microsoft OS, it just doesn't make sense. I've looked up on-line but none of the solutions have seemed to help me, and I doubt some people on here will be able to fix this, but here goes. I guess I'll see. I hope this will be fixed.

Would you be willing to try any of these?
How is your CPU activity as listed from the Performance tab of task manager?
Does your event viewer give you any clues by showing obvious errors?
Does your device manager list any flags?
Have you checked your disks for errors?
Have you scanned for malware?

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

There is obviously a problem, but it is not Explorer as unreliable.
There must be a conflict or error.
I would check your CPU load and device manager.
Take any possible issues one by one.

Hello Ben, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Does this only happen when you open to "This PC" in File Explorer, or all folders (ex: Libraries) no matter where opened from?

If it does only happen to "This PC", then do you have a network location that may be delaying it from loading as Windows is trying to connect to it?

If the above does not apply, then you might see if troubleshooting with a clean boot may be able to reveal a culprit.

Hope this help, :)

Thank you for your replies.

It's all my files which load slowly, however, when the File Explorer loads properly, all my files seem to load fast.

I have had an anti-virus scan, and I can confirm that I have no viruses, or malware.

It doesn't show that I have had any bad activity in the event viewer

I have checked the disk for errors, and I have found 0 errors.

My CPU is fine, I know this because:
I recently installed the program "Start Menu 8" provided by Iobit, great application.
When I click 'Computer' on the start menu it loads instantly, and works just like it has worked in the previous version of Windows: Windows 7. Also, the files load quick every time.

In a way, this problem I have posted is fixed for me. However, this problem still occurs when I execute the Explorer.
This is a fresh install of Windows 8.1, on a fresh new Hard Disk, I have re-installed Windows 8.1 already, and that doesn't work, hence why I am here to find a solution.

Hello xBenjie. Glad to see that one solved.

From a simple looksee, when loading the "file explorer", it appears that more is involved. In other words, the navigation pane loads, my computer or this pc loads all the drives and network lists. If you pin to start an individual drive with no navigation pane, it may load a bit faster.
